Proposed Research Inquiry
Research Project
Proposed Research
Overview
This research project was been cultivating and festering for a couple decades now.
I have had the privilege of working with many amazing individuals and organizations over the last several decades and I always know we have completed a phase of work when the statement, “it’s so simple” arises and there is a great sigh of relief. To my sadness, these simple truths that free us to live and contribute in a healthy way are not operating on a mass level. This awareness has led to my desire to contribute on a greater scale and dig deep into research to share insights that have powerful impact and influence.
Instead of just adding to the knowledge of our world, I strive to question our unquestionables and invite inquiry and collaboration using simple, natural truths to guide our collaborative efforts.
You are invited to this exploration.
what is the Proposed Journey?
A Map to the Research
We are searching for a way to address our personal and global challenges.
To start the search, we need to know where we are currently.
A number of questions are used to uncover more questions and a direction to move towards.
How are we going to approach this inquiry?
Here is a transmedia portfolio proposal for a transdisciplinary research project.
From Concept to Deliverables
We all love a good story.
Story involves conflict and resolution.
This research explores our current dilemmas on the planet – chaos, environmental disconnect, human confusion, scarcity and abundance (not necessarily in the right places) – and how we are approaching them. It is doubtful anyone would say we have a peaceful equilibrium at this time. That is our conflict.
The research proposal is about how we come to our resolution.
"After all, the ultimate goal of all research is not objectivity, but truth."

Presentation of Research
Are you ready?
In order to be considered a “doctoral candidate”, one must show competency via course completion and understanding of the upcoming research and “task at hand”.
In the Royal Roads University Interdisciplinary Department, there are a number of questions to explore to show a deep understanding of the interdisciplinary nature and interrelationships present in the upcoming research. See below to find some of the questions and requisite answers.
I am in the process of inviting a committee to come together to support this research. More will be shared soon.
As this is a global inquiry that allows for a varied depth of discovery, there are a variety of ethical considerations that will be highlighted here.
There is an infinite amount of literature that may inform this research and an ongoing and updated bibliography will be provided here.
Research is not confirmed until after the candidacy exam and then approval by RRU. This will contain draft updates and ideas until they are confirmed.
As this research has large scope, the theory & methodological approach must allow for the diversity, breadth, depth, and patterns that will in evidently emerge. With a qualitative lens, other methodology will be shared soon. Currently a grounded theory is being proposed.
The dissertation by portfolio is being pursued that will include a journal article, a website, and a presentation that is still to be determined.
Once reengaged with RRU, a timeline and deliverables will be included here.

A Radical Approach to Deradicalization
Why do we continue to see the same pattern of conflict when our intent is to transcend conflict?

Are the Natural and Social Sciences Oil and Water?
The theories of natural sciences and social sciences seem to be different with very little overlap. Is this wise?

Where is the Resolution in Conflict Resolution?
We have been striving to resolve conflict for a long time. Our approach may need to go deeper in understanding before we make significant progress.

Resting with Change, Not Immobility
When we are exhausted, we may not actually need rest. We may need something different.

Candidacy Question 1
Why is an interdisciplinary approach appropriate for this research topic?

Candidacy Question 2
What are the main practical and theoretical challenges of conducting inter- or transdisciplinary research?

Candidacy Question 3
What are the strengths and weaknesses of an interdisciplinary approach to this research topic?

Candidacy Question 4
What would be the most appropriate disciplinary approach to your topic? What would be the main advantages and disadvantages of such an approach?

Candidacy Question 5
How will the proposed research incorporate interdisciplinarity in the theoretical orientation, research approach, strategies, and methods?
